Brick Patterned Board w/ Purple Heart Accents

Brick Patterned End Grain Cutting Board that was commissioned by someone that I just happened to meet while manning a booth at a craft fair in my local area. Her ask was to incorporate Purple Heart wood somewhere in the pattern, and to keep the overall design on the darker side.

Ultimately, in addition to the Purple Heart, the “bricks” are either Red Zebrawood (lighter) or Padauk (darker), with Maple “mortar” in between. This design ended up so much better than I had anticipated, and I look forward to making a similar board in the future!
