Tournament Chess Board: Bocote, Flamed Maple, Rosewood and Black Limba
My second board heading right to Australia!!
This is by far the largest project I’ve taken on to date with exotic woods. This board measures just under 24” x 24”, with squares measuring 2.5”. The main grid has been constructed out of Flamed Maple (which i did my best to capture in the photographs, but it’s impossible to get the real impact unless you see it in person) for the light squares, and Bocote for the dark. The border is primarily Bolivian Rosewood, with an accent strip of Black Limba, flanked by thing strips of the same flamed maple.
